Choose Right Above the Noise
A Devotion on Choosing What Is Right in a Divided World
Scripture: Micah 6:8 (ESV) — “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?”
Mark 12:31 (ESV) — “You shall love your neighbor as yourself.” There is no other commandment greater than these. —Jesus
Titus 3:9 (ESV) — “But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless.”
In a World Swirling with Division
In a world swirling with division, labels, and endless debates, it’s easy for me to feel lost at times. I have friends and family on all sides of the political spectrum, and I refuse to let differences fuel hatred or arguments. Honestly, I’m sick of seeing it. With so many voices, who do I trust? CNN, MSNBC, FOX, NewsNation? Which side do I choose? Left or Right? Donkey or Elephant? Democrats or Republicans? I’ve been on both sides over the years.
A Prayerful Answer
In prayer, I asked the Lord about these things. Who do I believe? Who do I side with? A strong thought hit me—choose what is right.
I can’t solve every issue, chase every cause, or spend hours searching for “truth” online—there’s simply not enough time. But I can make it my goal to live the best way I can in Him. And to do that, I have to remain in Him. I have to stay close. I have to guard my heart from growing cold.
Simple, Powerful Choices
I can choose to make it a goal to love my neighbor as myself.
I can choose to make it a goal to pray with sincerity.
I can choose to make it a goal to show kindness to others.
I can choose to make it a goal to do good wherever I can.
Father, help me choose to do and speak what is right, no matter the voices screaming for our attention—no matter the ones shouting the loudest to prove their points. Help me keep my mind on You, where there is perfect peace. You know all things. Holy Spirit, thank You for leading us into all truth.
